Because of this oath, Jesus has become the
guarantee of a better covenant. Now there have been many of those
priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but
because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he
is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he
always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest meets our
need--one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted
above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to
offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the
sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he
offered himself. (Hebrews 7:22-27)

Other interesting Parallels |

| "It is written: "'As
surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every
tongue will confess to God.'" Romans 14:11 |
"...that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth," Philippians 2:10 |
| "...and he will be
a sanctuary; but for both houses of Israel he will be a stone that
causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the
people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare." Isaiah 8:14 |
"...and, "A stone
that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They
stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were
destined for." 1Peter 2:8 |
| "I will open my
mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old--"
Psalms 78:2 |
"So was fulfilled
what was spoken through the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world." Matthew
13:35 |
| "...which God will
bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King
of kings and Lord of lords," 1Timothy 6:15 |
"They will make war
against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of
lords and King of kings--and with him will be his called, chosen and
faithful followers." Revelation 17:14 |
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how
can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the
life. No one comes to the Father except
through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From
now on, you do know him and have seen him." Philip said, "Lord, show us the
Father and that will be enough for us." Jesus answered: "Don't you know me,
Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has
seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Don't
you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I
say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is
doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father
is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
(John 14:5-11 NIV)
The 66 books of the Bible that we have today
were written by about 40 different persons over more than a thousand years. When you
study the Bible it becomes obvious that even though each writers style is
unique, the underlining truths give a unifying single perspective. Even with
all of our modern advances in science the Bible has stood the test of time,
proven accurate both as a historical record and scientifically. It is
important to know that you cannot take any one verse of the Bible and try
to apply it in a way that is contrary to the rest of the Bible. This is why
we have listed so many verses to get a whole view of scriptures concerning the
deity of Jesus. If you really want to know what God is trying to say, then let
the Bible interpret itself as you study the whole Bible and see what it says
about all aspects of an issue.
We do not
have to fully comprehend the relationship between God the Father, Jesus the Messiah,
and the Holy Spirit. It is not required that we understand how Jesus can be both
fully God and fully man but it is clear from the volume of scripture that this
is the case. The scriptures clearly state that there is only one God
yet they also teach that Jesus is God with us. Don't make the mistake of
thinking that if you need to understand all the mysteries of life before you can
believe in God. You can see the "proof" of God today in changed lives. It
may help to note that you will never find God or Jesus involved in a power
struggle. They have it all figured out so you don't have to comprehend it.
"For the
Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will
show him even greater things than these. For just as the Father raises the dead
and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give
it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the
Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not
honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. (John 5:20-23
NIV)
When we use a switch to turn on a light or turn a key to
start a car we are not required to know the electronics or the mechanics in
order to use these inventions. The scriptures reveal many simple truths with
practical applications that are stated over and over that God does expect us to
understand and follow but the first step is a relationship with your creator
through His Son. Unfortunately many wars, religious factions and cults
have started (with great harm to the name of Christianity) by people who claim to
be "following God" but do not have a true relationship with Jesus. Watch out for false prophets
who pick and choose which scriptures
they manipulate out of context and get away from the basic truths of the good
news. Jesus Himself warned us against such deception...
Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one
deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ, ' and
will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that
you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be
famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth
pains. "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you
will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many
will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many
false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the
increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm
to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the
whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew
24:4-14 NIV)
And the apostle Paul also gives us warning:
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen,
masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades
as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as
servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve (2
Corinthians 11:13-15 NIV).
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the
one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said,
so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you
accepted, let him be eternally condemned! (Galatians 1:8-9 NIV)
